PM declares education emergency to enroll 26 million out-of-school children


Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has declared an Education Emergency across the country with a resolve to enroll 26 million out of school children.

Addressing the National Conference on Education Emergency in Islamabad this afternoon, he said the federal government, with the support of provinces, is committed to enroll out of school children to schools.

The Prime Minister said no nation can prosper without education.

Shehbaz Sharif said he would personally supervise this entire programme.

Highlighting his measures as chief minister of Punjab, Prime Minister said he successfully jacked up school enrollment in a significant number.

He said incentives were offered to educate girls in South Punjab.

He said stipends were provided to the female students, along with compensation to their parents so that they could stay in schools.

The Prime Minister said as chief minister Punjab, he remained successful in ending forced labour and sent 90,000 boys, with the age ranging from eight to 15 years, working at brick ki
lns to schools.

Shehbaz Sharif further said that Danish Schools, established by him, are providing quality education with boarding facilities to the poor.
