Japan extends grant assistance worth ¥315m to Pakistan through JICA

The Government of Japan has extended grant assistance worth 315 million Japanese yen, some 2.4 million dollars, to the Government of Pakistan through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

An agreement to this effect for Exchange of Notes and Grant Agreement between both countries regarding Human Resource Development Scholarship Program was signed in Islamabad today.

Acting Secretary of Ministry of Economic Affairs Muhammad Humair Karim and ITO Takeshi Minister/ Charge d’Affaires of Japan to Pakistan signed the grant agreement.

According to Ministry of Economic Affairs, this will be the sixth grant given to Pakistan. Under this grant, young Federal Civil Service officers/Ex-Cadre officers are being offered Seventeen Scholarships for Masters and One for PhD and Doctorate Program in various universities of Japan.

This project has significantly contributed to the capacity building of young officers and improvement of their performance that play a vital role in the socio-economic development of the country.
