Chief Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Haji Gulbar Khan says provincial government is taking major steps to empower women in the region. Talking to UN Women's representative in Pakistan Lansana Wenneh in Gilgit, Chief Minister said Government of Gilgit-Baltistan is also working in remote and backward areas for women's empowerment. He said government of Gilgit-Baltistan has established the Soni Juwari Center for Public Policy for the first time at the provincial level for research and policies. On this occasion, the representative of UN Women in Pakistan, while appreciating the initiatives of the Gilgit-Baltistan government regarding the empowerment of women, said that the representation of women in the provincial cabinet is a reflection of the government's vision regarding the empowerment of women. He said with partnership of the government, UN Women wants to work for the welfare of women in Gilgit-Baltistan and for the betterment of women in remote areas. Source: Radio Pakistan
