Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain says the government is committed to increase growth and productivity of agriculture sector. Talking to officers and staff during his maiden visit to the Ministry of National Food Security in Islamabad today after taking additional charge, he said agriculture is backbone of the country's economy and all resources will be utilized for its development. The Minister said the development and prosperity of Pakistan depends on the development of agriculture and an integrated strategy will be devised for its improvement. Rana Tanveer Hussain said agriculture sector is providing livelihoods to millions of people and playing a key role in ensuring food security for our population. He said Pakistan has been confronting with a number of challenges including climate change, water scarcity, lack of access to modern technology and markets. The Minister expressed the government's resolve to address these issues to realize full potential of agriculture sector. Earlier, at his arrival in the Ministry, Federal Secretary for National Food Captain (Retd) Muhammad Asif and senior officers accorded a warm welcome to the Minister.
