Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has emphasized the need to ensure the enforcement of axle load restrictions on the GT Road across the country. He was chairing a joint departmental meeting of the Frontier Works Organization and the National Highway Authority, in Islamabad today. It was decided that coordinated mutual policies would be implemented between the NHA and FWO. The Minister directed the establishment of weight stations on the GT Road for heavy vehicles. He also instructed that e-challans should be enforced for violations such as speeding, not wearing seat belts, and using mobile phones. Abdul Aleem Khan said surveillance through cameras on national highways could prevent accidents. The Minister stressed zero tolerance and urged the NHA and FWO to strictly adhere to laws and regulations. The Minister issued directives for the Sialkot to Kharian and Islamabad motorways.
